Trece Chancellor

Alabama

An accomplished, gracious "Diamond of the Deep South", TRECE CHANCELLOR, of Phoenix City, Alabama is a force to be reckoned with ! She is an NGC Accredited Master Flower Show Judge, and NGC Instructor, certified in Flower Show Procedure, Design and Symposia, and a member of the South Georgia Judges Council, belonging to Garden Clubs in Georgia and Alabama. In addition, she is on the Board of Directors for the Garden Club of Alabama, and participates in the Council 6 Alabama Judges as well as the Board for the Deep South Regional Council of NGC.

With husband Jack, she has three children and 10 grandchildren. Her grandchildren call her "Lovey"and they are pretty impressed with her ! Would you believe - Trece somehow finds time to be an avid runner, and has completed among numerous others, four New York City Marathons. The distance for the NYC Marathon is an exhausting 26 miles !

She says, "In the NYC Marathon, you run through all FIVE boroughs, starting on the Verrazano Bridge, and ending up in Central Park." Her brother, Marvin, got her started in running, and they usually enter marathons together. They like to wear tee shirts that say, in the case of Trece, "Marvin's Sister, Trece" and for Marvin,
his shirt says, "Trece's Brother, Marvin". She says that you can tell a lot about where you are when you're running the NYC Marathon, by listening to the sounds around you, and by hearing the various accents of the people who are cheering you on.

Trece is proud to have a design included in the wonderful new floral design book, "Creative Floral Designs, Step-by-Step", by authors Carolyn R. Hawkins and Jeannine F. Row. This delightful book can be ordered through NGC Headquarters in St. Louis, MO.

She teaches a class entitled "Dare To Be Different" as a Symposium subject, and is in demand around the United States as a speaker. She said, "If you always go the same route to shop, and park in the same place, and go in and out of the same entrance..... do it differently. Go a different route, park in a different area, and so on. Get out of your comfort zone, get out of your rut. Just that small thing will stimulate your brain cells and awaken your creativity!"

Her husband was a Professional Bass Fishermanfor many years. Trece says he is a tremendous support to her in all her endeavors. He's retired now, so life is a bit more easy going at the Chancellor household...well, except for Trece's high-powered, on-the-go lifestyle !

Trece says her home has the proverbial "swinging door", with children and grandchildren coming and going at all times. They really love to "hang out" with "Lovey" and family takes a priority in her life. No doubt there are some "budding" floral designers and garden clubbers among this group, with Trece as a role-model !

One of her favorite activities is to search the car parts places and car junkyards(carefully, she admits) to collect those wonderful, unusual car parts that so often find their way into one of her clever, innovative floral designs. Surely, Jack must just shake his head in wonderment and admiration at her ingenious use of "found objects".

In a recent symposium, she found a use for the bottom half of a bubble gum machine from her Great Room, for use as in "Innovative Staging" for a design. She's handy with her electric tools, she reports, and does not hesitate to use an 18Volt drill, or whatever tool is called for when creating a design.

Trece and Marvin have run the Chicago Marathon also, and she says it takes LOTS of training, dedication and daily running to prepare for one of the marathons. She runs about SIX MILES A DAY, or as much as her busy schedule permits.

We can readily see that Trece brings talent, dedication and commitment to all that she does, and that is how she is able to accomplish. No rocking chair for this amazing grandmother ! She's in inspiration to all of us, this MULTI-FACETED, MANY-TALENTED WOMAN OF THE SOUTH... TRECE CHANCELOR.
