The 2008 Convention -
"Going Coastal" - will be held at
Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front
Formerly the Hilton Garden Inn Pensacola Beach on March 30-
31. Each
State will be invited to create an "Arrangement" in competition with
the other states. So start planning your creation.
The Convention Committee will have someone to assist with the placement
of the designs and will furnish the state identification sign.
The good news is that you can start collecting your votes NOW!
“The Arrangement”
Here is how it works....
- When can we begin? - States
need to be at work now collecting those dollars – we know that most of
the votes will be “bought” before the convention. Voter solicitation
can go on until 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2008, at which time, the
selected Treasurer will give the State Life Membership Chairman, Peggy
White, the total number of votes (dollars) for her state. The
money will later be sent to her in one (1) check with the State Life
Membership Applications the money will fund. States will devise
their own method for selecting the recipients
- Who collects the money? - Select a
Treasurer. You can select your current State Treasurer, but you
can appoint an "Arrangement Treasurer" to keep track of your votes.
- How do we vote? - Gather your votes
- Each state –
collects $1.00 for each vote and keeps a record of the total.
- What do we get for our dollars? -
Your votes will fund either a number of
Deep South Memberships or Patrons
for Scholarships or combinations of both. (The Deep
South Life Memberships are $50 each and the Deep South Patrons for
Scholarships are $100 or more)
- Who decides who gets the memberships?
- Each state will determine the method for selecting its
recipients. You can raffle them
to members in your state or use to honor someone such as your state
president or other outstanding members. Raffles, votes,
drawings etc. - the choice is yours!
- What about the balance left over after we
use the money to secure memberships and patrons? - The odd
dollars, if any, will go into the Deep South
Scholarship Fund.
- When do we know who is the winner? -
“The
Arrangement” winner will be announced at the Awards Banquet, March 31
and will be featured on the Deep South Region Web site.
